Vaccine Resources
The first vaccine was developed in 1796 when it was noted that cowpox (a common virus in cows that individuals who milked cows often got) protected humans from smallpox. Dr. Edward Jenner inoculated 8 year-old James Phipps with matter from a cowpox sore on the hand of Sarah Nelmes, a local milkmaid. Since then vaccines have saved and improved millions of lives. The Advisory Committee of Immunizing Practices (ACIP) - https://www.cdc.gov/acip/index.html - has traditionally provided recommendations on vaccines. However given that all Committee members with experience including its executive secretary were dismissed on June 9, 2025 in may be prudent to have additional resources when making decisions about vaccines.(See https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2835626) This website provides link to other resources and does not provide medical advice or make recommendations.
