This global job provides experienced consulting expertise in epidemiology,
to support leadership teams addressing corporate enterprise critical
issues, global businesses, Health Services Expertise Center,
and to partnership areas of EH&S and Human Resources. This
activity includes assessing, designing, directing, planning and
conducting state of the art epidemiology studies, critiquing
external work, providing reviews of substance specific health
effects, directing and working with interdisciplinary teams developing
strategy to assure sound government regulation, monitoring studies
which may impact businesses, and providing medical input to all
epidemiology undertakings. The incumbent will represent Dow to
trade associations, external academic groups, government bodies,
and the public. This role is also expected to provide leadership
in expanding the applications of epidemiology to critical human
health and safety as well as health care/medical challenges facing
Dow. The incumbent will report to the Global Director of Health
Services
Primary responsibilities and qualifications:
Provide senior consulting support and services to Dow corporate,
global sites, global businesses and functional clients. Determine
the needs for epidemiology research, surveillance or subject
matter expertise/consulting for business/product support or support
for manufacturing or site medical personnel in order to keep
The Dow Chemical Company in compliance and fulfill product stewardship
responsibilities of the company. Provide consulting and develop
the required research, working closely with a variety of epidemiologic
personnel and a variety of manufacturing, business, or other
health professions personnel (industrial hygiene, medical, toxicology).
Plan and coordinate epidemiologic research for products/processes
or components of products/processes manufactured or used by The
Dow Chemical Company to support internal decision-making with
regard to human
health and safety. Participate as a subject matter
expert in business risk reviews.
Critically review non-Dow epidemiologic research and assist in
communicating the impact of such research upon
Dow.
Participate in EH&S and Health Services teams and projects
as a subject matter expert and as an active participant to partner
in realizing Health Services Expertise Center objectives.
Participate in trade, government, and academic organizations
in order to support, maintain and/or influence health policies
that would impact Dow.
Maintain technical expertise in the field of epidemiology and
statistical methods to benefit Health Services and
The Dow Chemical
Company.
Provide leadership or participation in key positions, roles or
projects for the Global Health Services Expertise Center such
as business focal point, technical focal point, or team leader.
In collaboration with Health Services senior medical staff, provide
technical leadership to design and implement
new approaches for
population health assessment which address current constraints
and needs.
Provide technical skills and leadership to current issues of
employee health particularly novel techniques in human performance
analysis to optimize employee and Dow business success.
Provide technical leadership for health care cost analysis in
partnership with Health Services and senior HR staff
to address
the corporate critical situation with health care costs.
Qualifications:
PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics or related field. Minimum 5
years corporate epidemiology with total epidemiology experience
of 7-10 years, and strong publication record. Experience with
collaboration and interface with regulators and academic partnerships.
Academic experience is desired but not required. Multiple language
skills are an asset.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications. Travel will vary,
as it is project dependent.
