Primary care health care providers including physicians and nurse practitioners, medical and surgical specialists, and dentists, are needed to care for the indigenous population that is served by an extraordinary clinic in the Ecuadorian tropical highland along the Peruvian border. This modern facility is situated at a Catholic mission in the village of Guadalupe along the main trade route into the Amazonian region. The nearest hospital is one hour away. The clinic has examining rooms, an operating theater, dental suites, a pharmacy, and a basic laboratory. Volunteers of all faiths have come from around the globe. They have visited for as little as two weeks or for several months. Travel is not reimbursed but room and board is covered, with comfortable accommodations in residence halls overlooking the Andes. A knowledge of Spanish is advantageous. Please visit the web site www.guadalupe-ec.org . If interested contact Padre Jorge Nigsch at nigsch57@easynet.net.ec.
Since its founding in October 2001 the Clinica Misional has seen more than 25,000 patient visits, including various surgeries and ever expanding primary care services. We also have begun outreach missions to even more remote and impoverished communities. We are constantly recruiting physician volunteers to assist us.
