CDC 4-Year Assignment of Chronic Disease Epidemiologist

CDC is seeking an energetic, talented and experienced chronic disease epidemiologist for placement in a leadership position with the Clark County Health District (CCHD) in Las Vegas , Nevada . This Commissioned Corps assignment will be through the Chronic Disease State-based Epidemiology for Public Health Program Support (STEPPS) activity in the Division of Adult and Community Health at CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP/DACH). The candidate will have a unique opportunity to implement a chronic disease and prevention program in a dynamic and fast-growing community.
The Clark County Health District is one of the largest local public health organizations in the United States . The health district employs over 500 individuals to serve a population of over 1.6 million residents, which represents 70 percent of Nevada 's total population. Additionally, the district is charged with safeguarding the public health of more than 36 million visitors to Las Vegas each year.
Chronic Disease Epidemiologist
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chronic disease epidemiology, experience in a public health setting, supervisory/leadership experience and excellent, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
The epidemiologist will work under the general direction of the CCHD community health services director, and in close collaboration with the Office of Epidemiology and Office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
As the health district lead for chronic disease epidemiology, the candidate will use population-based data health data to plan and evaluate health promotion and disease prevention efforts, set priorities, and develop sound public policy, while helping strengthen chronic disease epidemiology capacity in the long term.
