The early registration deadline is Nov. 17,2000 Here is an excerpt from ACPM News- REGISTER NOW FOR PREVENTIVE MEDICINE 2001 AND SAVE MONEY! You know by now that ACPM is planning an exciting new conference that highlights the intersection between clinical preventive medicine and population medicine. The first conference in this new annual meeting series -- called Preventive Medicine 2001: Science and Systems for Health - will take place February 22-25, 2001 in sunny (and warm!) Miami, Florida. REGISTER NOW - BEFORE THE EARLY BIRD DEADLINE OF NOVEMBER 17 - AND YOU'LL SAVE UP TO $100 ON YOUR REGISTRATION FEE. Embarking on a new annual meeting series is a significant milestone in ACPM's history. From a keynote address by Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Director John Eisenberg, to in-depth discussions of evidence-based medicine, to sessions on genetics, tobacco prevention and cessation, cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, electronic medical records, and prevention on the internet, the range of topics to be addressed is both broad and stimulating. Through written surveys, telephone interviews, and focus groups, ACPM members have told us what they want in their annual meeting. The Preventive Medicine 2001 Planning Committee has designed the meeting to meet your needs. Preventive Medicine 2001 will feature tracks on Clinical Preventive Medicine, Prevention Policy, E-Health/Informatics, Public Health Practice, and Career Development. Plenary sessions, individual track presentations, hands-on demonstrations, an open policy forum, mini-courses, poster sessions, roundtables, and special events will provide a range of stimulating environments for learning, discussing, and networking. Another new feature is an exciting local public health planning event being organized in conjunction with the Florida Department of Health. Meeting attendees will be able to actively participate with the Department of Health as it plans Florida's response to a potential influenza pandemic. Plan to join your peers in Miami to participate in this exciting new meeting. To register, or for more information, log on to www.PreventiveMedicine2001.org or call Maureen Crane, Meetings Manager at (202) 466-2044, ext. 103. See you in Miami! 1 - November 1, 2000
