Health Director, Three Rivers Health District. Works closely w/local officials, the community, & other human service agencies. VDH is a progressive public partner thru focus on prevention oriented programs & disseminating health information. Will manage  a budget of almost $5million in fed, state & local funds and 103 employees. Programs managed include environmental health, community assessment, disease control & prevention, & maternal & child health.

Must be licensed physician in VA or eligible. Experience in public health & administration are musts. Board certification in preventive medicine plus an MPH are preferred. $1000 annual salary supplement for PrevMed certification. Some local and occasional overnight travel outside district required.

This position has just become open. This department is a partner with the Virginia Department of Health which contributes 60% of the base cooperative budget.  There are additional city and grant funds added to the cooperative budget. The current Total budget is just over $12 million. The selected incumbent will be an MPH, MPH preferably Board Certified in PH/GPM with at least 5 years experience managing a public health agency or as a deputy in a large metropolitan agency.  Richmond is the capital City of Virginia.  The department has often been seen as a model for other agencies in the state.  The director will also have an opportunity to become a member of the faculty of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health in the School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University.  This department was just rated as No 11 in the Nation among departments of Community Health in the annual 'US News College report'   This department is one of the three independent departments of health in the state( the others are Arlington and Fairfax County departments of health.)

The director will be expected to demonstrate excellent management and interpersonal skills as well as knowledge of public health. The director will continue the progress the city has made in developing a total health care access for all its citizens by cooperation between the City and the VCU Health System.

The Department has an excellent track record in attracting major grants from public and private entities.

The current development of health access has been the subject of two recent papers presented at the APHA and the AAMC, as well as in selected papers on cooperation between public health departments and universities reported  in  the study performed by the New York Academy of Medicine.

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE RESIDENCY DIRECTOR POSITION
The Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center is seeking a faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level (tenure eligible) to direct the Department's Preventive Medicine Residency program. A medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and board certification in Preventive Medicine are required and the applicant must be able to qualify for medical licensure in Colorado. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with Preventive Medicine residents and will lead efforts in further developing the Preventive Medicine Residency program (currently serving 2 first year and 4 second year residents); will have experience as an independent researcher in an area of interest to the Department and will enthusiastically pursue new research endeavors; will teach masters and doctoral level courses; and will collaborate with investigators within and outside the Department in biomedical and behavioral research.
