Application Deadline for the NIH
Council of Public Representatives is October 15!
The Director of the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) relies on the Council of Public Representatives (COPR)
to ensure that the NIH hears from members of the public about important health
and medical issues. The Council consists of 21 individuals who are selected from
among the many diverse communities across the nation that benefit from, and have
an interest in, NIH research, programs, and activities.
Each year, NIH invites applications to the COPR from individuals who are
interested in the work of NIH (such as being a patient or family member of a
patient; a volunteer in the health or science arena; a scientist; health
provider; health communicator, educator or professional in the medical field)
and who is in a position to communicate regularly with others who benefit from
NIH research.
The deadline for applying to COPR is
October 15, 2002. Please consider serving on this important Council. Visit the
COPR Website at
http://copr.nih.gov/application_process.shtm
to find out about the application process, or to call 301-650-8660 and ask to
speak to the COPR Coordinator.
COPR is an opportunity to contribute
to the future of the National Institutes of Health. Please share this
information as soon as possible through your publications, listservs, and other
channels for communicating with your colleagues in the health field. (From Mary
Ellen Bradshaw)
